Scorecard for Denmead vs Bosham

Mark Allen guided his side home with another fine innings of 71 not out as Bosham convincingly won their eighth game of the season.

This was a match between second place Bosham and fourth place Denmead which would have a significant bearing on the final league positions of both sides. Bosham made an excellent start at the King George V ground with Nick Outram, Martin Farrell and Joe Gilliatt all bowling accurately to restrict scoring opportunities. At the half-way point of their innings Denmead had struggled to 51 for 3. The pressure was maintained by Bosham and the Denmead were forced to take greater risks in pursuit of setting a more challenging target. Dave Walker led the way for the home side with a innings of 66 but when he was caught by Gilliatt in the 38th over the score had only progressed to 152. Eighteen runs were added in the remaining four overs but at the cost of five wickets as Dave Goodman and Allen did a great job of containing and cleaning out the Denmead tail enders.

Colin Henderson and Allen opened the innings for Bosham and scored at a high tempo therefore preventing any pressure mounting on the batting side. The pair were untroubled until Henderson completely misjudged a third run when Colin Walker threw in the ball from deep extra cover to run him out. Allen continued his superb form this season and anchored the innings with an accomplished 71 not out. He was assisted first by Outram (19) and then Goodman (43) with Bosham securing a comprehensive seven wicket victory.
