HCL-SE2: Otterbourne II vs Bosham - 19 June 2010

Bosham returned to winning ways as they convincingly beat Otterbourne by 82 runs.
Duncan Barratt and Tom Gilliatt opened the batting for Bosham and with some aggressive stroke play added 48 when Gilliatt inside edged on to his own stumps for 20 off the bowling of Dave Shears. Another six runs were added before Barratt top edged a delivery from the youngster Hammett for 31.
Otterbourne were able to contain the run rate once they had dismissed the openers however a determined Bosham team continued to build a good total on a lively wicket.
David Goodman (35) and George Barratt (40) added 56 for the third wicket and then Barratt combined with Jon Stevenson (30) to add 58 for the fifth wicket partnership. Stephen Griffiths was run out on the last ball trying to secure maximum batting points and the innings closed on 199.
The pace of Gilliatt had the Otterbourne openers in immediate trouble as Price, Procter and Purvis were all clean bowled and heading back to the pavilion. George Barratt was not rewarded for his excellent opening spell until his sixth over when he bowled captain Graham Langrish with his speciality round the legs delivery. Barratt followed this up in the next over with the wicket of Cole and his seven overs had cost just 14 runs.
Despite a flourish from Hammett (18) and Will McMahon (21) towards the end of the innings Otterbourne were never in the game and Jon Stevenson cleaned up the tail taking 3 wickets for 19 runs.
After a couple of defeats the win moves Bosham back up the table and in to fifth place.
