Match report:

A faultless innings of 66 from David Goodman guided Bosham to victory in their opening match of the season.

In the drizzle at Oaklands Park the visitors Wickham opted to bat and the sibling openers Chris and James Martin took advantage of some wayward bowling. As the bowlers Tom Gilliatt and George Barratt struggled to find their consistency in the poor conditions the batsmen pounced on every opportunity hitting ten fours between them. The score raced to 35 from five overs when Barratt made a breakthrough having Chris Martin caught by Sam Gilliatt who was making his debut behind the stumps. By the time James Martin mistimed a pull shot and top edged the ball, again to keeper Gilliatt in the 25th over, Wickham had been reduced to 95 for five. Only some resilient batting from Burt, who contributed 45, made any serious impact as all the other batsmen were dismissed for single figures.

Early breakthroughs for Wickham that had Duncan Barratt and Tom Gilliatt back in the pavilion with only 19 runs on the scoreboard. This brought together David Goodman and Sam Gilliatt for the third wicket partnership. Gilliatt looked in total control as he went on the offensive hitting four fours before mistiming a drive and scooping the ball to Higgins at cover. George Barratt partnered Goodman in what proved to be a commanding and match winning effort. The two Bosham batsmen worked the ball around the field and kept the scoreboard turning over as they amassed 80 runs. Wickham were unable to stop the flow of singles as Bosham progressed methodically towards their target. Barratt was dismissed for 29 but Goodman showed great determination and did not give a chance away as he guided his team home scoring an undefeated 66.
