U/10s win against Midhurst

posted 28 Jun 2010, 02:28 by Rory Gogarty

On a gloriously sunny day at the stunning Cowdray Park grounds, Bosham U/10s convincingly beat a strong Midhurst side by 98 runs. Bosham were almost at full strength for the first time this season and were boosted by some of our lads who although U/10 play for the U/12 team.

We batted first and Dominic Gogarty and Ed Kendall fired us to a good start. Both retired undefeated after their allotted 2 overs each with Dom (aged 8) on 18 and Ed on 11. The middle order then did their job with everyone picking up runs and more importantly very few losing their wickets. The standout batsmen was Harry Hoolahan who smashed a quick 25 including the only 6 of the match. A special mention for Joe Heber (aged 8) for his impressive 9 and to Dominic Murphy for a quick hitting 14.

Midhurst struggled against our strong pace attack of Hoolahan and Tom Gogarty with the latter picking up 4 wickets. Others to bowl well and get wickets were Jason Beard, Robert Russell, Joe Heber, Dominic Gogarty and Dominic Murphy.

A very good team performance and we can we very proud of the team who fielded well and supported each other.

Given that we were missing some of our stronger players we think that we should do very well in the Arundel knockout tournament on 11 July.
