The inaugural joint Bosham Cricket Club/Sailing Club Quiz held at the Sailing Club on Saturday 14 January to raise funds for the Cricket Club attracted a merry crowd of members and friends of both clubs. The event was a sell out success with some 80 people attending. The money raised will go towards a fund to build a cricket pavilion which the Cricket Club has planning permission to build at their Delling Close field. Quiz master John Betts produced a challenging series of questions and conducted proceedings with his usual blend of authority and good humour: all protests (spurious and otherwise) were neatly dealt with. Despite a very competitive evening, teams from the Sailing Club took first and second places with the cricketers an honourable third, though all three teams went away with liquid refreshment prizes. Well done to the winning teams and we hope you enjoy your wines. Mention should also be made of the Cricket Club's "Young Ones" team (average age 12) who surprised everyone with their strong knowledge especially in the " sport" and "identify the picture" categories. A special thanks to Phil Cotman at BSC for all his hard work and to Claire Harrison for the food. The Cricket Club plan on further fundraising activities later this year including a "celebrity cricket match". Watch this space for details. The Club welcomes members of all ages and abilities-you just have to have an interest in cricket in Bosham and surrounding areas! We would love to hear from anyone who would like to help the club in any way whether with fundraising, playing or helping with coaching or ground maintenance. Enquiries may be directed to our Club Secretary Martin Farrell. Rory Gogarty Chairman |
