Well done to the Bosham U/16 team who were undefeated during the Festival Week. Highlights were the wins over local rivals Priory Park, Stirlands and Eastergate. This was a great team performance but Jack Low's centuries against Priory Park and Stirlands were memorable as was the resolute batting at no 2 of Dominic Gogarty who is an U/12 player. Luke Haddow (as he had for the U/14s proved his worth as an allrounder with an avearage for the week of 41 runs and wickets in most of the games. Harry Hoolahan weighed in with some good batting and won us the game against Eastergate in partnership with Ben Heber who led the team well. Thanks to Nigel Glennie, Paul Heber and Keith Young for helping to organise, umpiring and scoring and to Kay Glennie and Sarah Heber who organised the teas.
Well done to the boys for a great win over Chichester Priory Park at the Bosham ground on 18 August. Bosham made 197 with Jack Low scoring a maiden 109, ably supported by Harry Hoolahan with 42. Bosham then bowled out CPP for 180 in a tense end to the game with Jamie Glennie picking up 4-24.
The next game is against Stirlands.
Well done to the boys for coming second in their group behind a very strong Broadwater Colts team but well ahead of Priory Park, Barns Green and Midhurst. The only game lost was to Broadwater Colts (a game we should have won) but the boys all played with great spirit and enjoyed the week. All the boys made significant contributions with bat, ball or in the field exemplifying the team nature of the game. There were some particularly notable individual contributions amongst this excellent team play: Tom Gogarty's 103 and Alfie Edworthy's 58 both against Barns Green, Luke Haddow's 55 not out against Broadwater, Eddie Kendall's 50 not out against Priory Park and George Williams 29 which held the innings together against Priory Park. All our bowlers did very well and we were the strongest attack in this League. Percy More's 6-21 against Barns Green was particulary good but Alfie Edworthy, Luke Haddow and Will Gaynor all bowled particualrly well all week.
A big thank you to the parents who helped organise with lifts and teas especially Annabel, Annastasia, Cara and Philippa. Special thanks to Tom for helping to umpire and score and to Simon who proved he is a master at scoring in the rain.
We have the Sussex Junior Cricket Festival (SJCF) U/14 tournament starting on 4 August for that week. The dates and opponents are:
Aug 4th Barns Green CC (away)
Aug 6th Broadwater Colts (home)
Aug 7th Midhurst (cancelled by Midhurst)
Aug 8th Chichester Priory Park
